ARE WE EMBARRASSED OF OUR CULTURE?

Islamic Republic of Pakistan, established in 1947 on the name of Two Nation theory also referred to as the very ideology of Pakistan which states that Muslims and Hindus are two separate nations by every description; thus Muslims should have an independent country in the Muslim majority areas. This was the basis of establishment of our country.
This basis sure depict that our only aim of achieving this country was to make a peaceful change in our lives while practicing our religion which is not only confined to the religious boundaries but gives a whole way of life including the very culture that should be adopted by the people of this country. This aim was also reflected in the Constitution of 1973 where Pakistan’s name was converted to Islamic Republic of Pakistan. But here the questions stand? Was it really the true reason of creating this independent country? If yes, then are we abiding by the obligations on every citizen? Are we sincere to the country or fore fathers gave lives for? It is the very way of living that should depict the culture of a country like ours?
When I thought of all these questions, I was not only thunder struck but depressed to an extent that it made me re-think about my whole life and the very obligations attached to me.
We are a great country, with all the resources of materials as well as human beings but there definitely is some shortcoming that is pushing us to remain backward and unaware. What I could gather of and conclude was not our faulty roots but the weighing of those roots. Our society through propaganda has been pushed back by imposing an imperialistic culture on ourselves and we are very much welcoming it with open hands.
Hence I believe that the true dilemma of this country is the proneness of its people to the western culture. Accepting a new thing is not wrong as long as you are not rejecting your own. Another problem with our people is that they not only welcome western culture but are rejecting their identity. By welcoming the other culture, people have gone to such extents that they are even dis-owning their religion and going totally against it.
This situation is very alarming and the dominating forces must take some action to snub this problem right now or else it will not only eat away our cultural roots but our own country for which our fore fathers have given extensive sacrifices of every sort.

Live and let live. What good has our so called religious people given us any way? Fanaticism? Killing innocent people? I don't find it surprising that people find themselves attracted to the west. Why wouldn't they? If you want to change something, instead of complaining, change yourself so others can follow in your example. As for the 'dominating forces must take some action to snub this problem right now', I disagree. It's a free country or at least, it is supposed to be.

I don't think the majoriy of pakistanis are prone to western culture
if that were the case the west would not be so hated
maybe with the elitist that is the case but the normal Pakistani person on the street sin't adapting western culture. You need to also define what culture you are speaking of. If it's clothing, technology, socializing,
why not? Why stay backwards? The world is a whole new place with the insurgance of technology at everyones finger tips. We need to take the good of the western culture and the good parts of the Pakistani culture and make it a positive thing. I agree that the drinking and other indiscreet actions should be avoided but the things like that were done behind closed doors now they are just in the open. I don't think the west needs to be blamed at all. As a country Pakistan is fully capable of answering for itself in what is happening inside it.
