Students are an important part of country’s intelligentsia. They have energy and patriotic zeal that can be great service to nation Drugs affect the nervous system. It leads to the deterioration of body and mind and it causes death. But use of drugs has become status symbols in elite class specially in private institution, it has become very common. Student waste their energy in this undesirable activity. This attitude shows that our new generation is mental slave of our western overlords. Unfortunately in Pakistan drug is one major problem that youth is facing these days. As the competition among students and teenagers grows stronger, the youth life becomes more hectic. Life has not been the same as it was a few years ago when a simple graduate could find a job and make his living easily. Unlike old days, now getting into a quality educational institute is harder. Students have to strive more. They not only have to clear exams but they have to pass it with certain percentage to qualify for a good institution. When the person does get into a good university, he has to maintain his GPA to exist in the system. After the completion of his degree, his struggle for job-hunting starts and so does his miseries.
Considering all above given facts, it’s evident that Pakistani student become the victim of stress which then result in depression. To counter stress, however, students find their own way of escape. Among these ways, the worst we know is opting for drugs. These days drug addiction has become widespread in colleges and University of Pakistan that it threatens the very survival of country’s promising future. A person taking drugs knows no worries and forgets all his responsibilities. It kicks the person so much, that apparently the person enters into a new world. A world he can only dream of; a world of joy; a world without sorrows. But this is not the end.
Drugs have such properties that they do affect the hormones and relaxes the person. Drugs affect the nervous system. It leads to the deterioration of body and mind and often results in death. But use of drugs has become status symbols in elite class especially in private institution, it has become very common. Student waste their energy in this undesirable activity. This attitude shows that our new generation is mental slave of our western overlords. There are clubs where drugs are common. Students from rich family buy the expensive tickets, only to destroy their selves. It’s a dangerous trend which should be taken very seriously now. Alcohol must fully be banned from the state of Pakistan. Still, there are many hotels which have permits to keep and sell alcohol to non-Muslim community, but it leaks out to everyone regardless of their religion or status. If the matter is not taken seriously, consequences will be dangerous.
MISUNDERSTOOD CONCEPT OF MODERNISATION
7:36 PM | Author: Fatima Tariq
Many parents and children misunderstand the concept of modernization. Young people find life enjoyable and want to enjoy it more by taking their decision themselves. There’s a certain class in the society which try to follow the class they envy. Such class often takes decision beyond a certain level of decency which sometimes leads to vulgarity and violates the principles of Islam. Many parents follow the western lifestyle and they prefer not to stop their children where they should have been as they think, stopping them will dent their personality. Such parents try to adopt a different lifestyle by pretending to be modern and letting their children lose but such freedom often backfires in the form of vulgarity. As the parents let their children take their own decision, they miss an important part of their role, to tell their children, where to stop. They feel like competing with others by this fashion. Such people lose their national identity because fashions reflect the culture of a nation as Shakespeare said “apparel proclaims the man”.
Vulgarity results as the misconception of modernization. People who fail to distinguish between modernization and vulgarity are only to be blamed of their ignorance. Modernization is the adopting a different but better standard of life. It involves studying better, living better and enjoying a quality life. Problem occurs when the person thinks modernization is to live freely and openly, rather than decently but wisely.

This diverse gap is becoming the root cause of various unethical, unlawful activities in the country. This cultural change is not only depressing the common man but forcing him to indulge in any unlawfulness for his desires and the desires of his children.

In House Parties
6:22 AM | Author: M. Umar Qureshi

There is change in a way teens think and see things and that is the kind of change that is going to proliferate in Pakistan in coming years. One can think that they will stop at one time or the other but in reality this is just the beginning. I mean when we were in our teens we most certainly did not find it easy or common to have "In House" parties where we could freely socialize with each other and dance all night long. But nowadays these parties are just a common trend. There is no thrill in life if there aren't any "In House" parties. At this stage these kinds of parties are only the first step on the stairway to what these teens might call "The Cool World" while for others it is straight away a step in the ditch of Shame.
What is it that has caused such a cultural change in the society to prevail? Is the blame only to go to the western influence?
